Alpenglow over the Mahoosucs. A photograph of the scene is unreal--too perfect, almost heavenly. Here a wide variety of paint application techniques--a light wash in the sky, a similar wash in the mid- and foreground followed by some dry brushing created a background to highlight the Mahoosuc range lit up by Alpenglow--looking WNW in the early morning as the sun rose behind me. I like to use a thick application of paint on parts of the scene to draw the eye. So you see the heavy ridges of paint on the lit mountains--and the rest is just an abstraction of the sky, mid-ground, and foreground.
Drink in the ethereal beauty of the scene
